Went to the St.Louis the other day. Here is some pics.
It was a beautiful day to be at the Zoo and most of the animals were out and in good spirits except for the Lions, they seemed to have disappeared but the sign said new Lions will be coming from Africa soon, so I guess we will have to back to welcome the new captives.

Google Labs
For my lesson I was instructed to visit Google Labs and play around with a few of the tools. So, I quickly perused each one in the list and the first one decided to explore further was Google Reader. Basically this is a free service that constantly checks your favorite news sites and blogs for new content. You can use this Lab by signing up with your email account, Google Reader's built-in public page also lets you recommend and share interesting items with friends.
Another neat tool is Google Suggest. As you type your search, Google offers keyword suggestions in real time. Let's say you type in "Dog" automatically Google Suggest gives several dog related searches such as, dog food recall, dog breeds, dog names, and so on . Every word or phrase I typed I had dozens of choices to help me to find what I want. Very useful if your just not quite sure what you need!
One more that I thought could be useful is Google Ride Finder. This tool helps you Find a taxi, limousine or shuttle using real time position of vehicles. Just type in the City and State and the location will pop up on the map then you move you mouse pointer over one of the "map pins" which shows the location, gives you the name and a telephone number to contact the company.
There are more useful and fun tools to explore so log on and have fun.

Today on my 2.0 lesson I learned about web-based applications and I must admit this is something I did not know was available. As I browsed around the many applications I found thinkfree.com to be the most appealing to me. I spent most of my time at this site and found several documents that could be used at work as well as home such as keeping inventory of your product, whatever it may be, or simple home budgets.
The most important aspect of the web-based apps. is how easy they are to use unlike some of the downloaded documents.

Technorati
I found this blog searching tool to be "neat" I guess I would say. I pulled up the site and thought about what I wanted to read, what I cared enough about to add my thoughts to, or who I could piss off enough to have them tell be to bugger off! I started off with something that I deal with 24/7 and then some, which is my pain, my back pain to be exact. It is good for the soul to talk to others who can relate or at least know where your comming from. I also found a fun one about rating your favorite energy drink! BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! And God knows I can use some energy. I recomend 5 Hour Eenergy, it's a bit coastly but it works rather well if you take it on an empty stomach, just don't use it if you plan to sleep anytime soon. :) Love ya!

Image Generator
This was fun . I had the best time playing with the image generator. Everything that was shown was painfully simple to use, that is why of course I was able to master it! Come on and give it a try. That's me when I was 4 yrs. old! http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/

Myspace or yours?
I don't really think that a Library (any setting) in today's world can afford not to be "connected" to the people it serves. As a matter of fact I believe that a modern Library owes it to the community or students to have the latest information and technology for their use. Using Myspace as a way to reach out to up and coming patrons is fantastic. An Idea for a activity or program can be instantly instituted or dismissed depending on the response. Information gathered from the ideas and thoughts that are being tossed back and forth will flow like Honey. Teens can log on and find Ideas on what would be a cool next read or "I heard this new song the other day and I can't figure out who sings it, have you heard it?"
Teens can find out what's next for them at the Library and play a hand in creating an event. What better place is there to go on a wet and stormy, or a cold winter day, or if you are just plain bored than to the Library and if you can not be there in person than you can go hang out virtually at Myspace with your chums. It's hip it's new it's hot and it's happening and I like it!

Happy!
Man! This has been a terrific day, I think I have learned more today than I have in a long time and, I had fun doing it. Reminds of when I was an 8th grader and dating a Senior....
I am not yet happy with my template. I have tried on several but none seem to fit me, oh well. As I learn more I'm sure I'll be able to remedy that. I want to give a big shout out to Rob and Bob for all their time and effort. I think having a wealth of knowledge is a blessing , but sharing and teaching what you know to others is a sign of true virtuosity. I can not wait to get back here tomorrow and work on my wiki. Thanks again.
